In our initial session, I will conduct a thorough assessment to truly get to know you and your unique story. Most importantly, I want to hear from you. What are your hopes and goals for therapy? I am a down-to-earth, caring and curious person. My style is interactive, but I always tailor it to you and your particular needs. Therapy is like putting a puzzle together, where we discover all the pieces, try to understand them and how they came to be. After that, we collaborate to finish the puzzle by understanding the origin of the symptoms, their impact on your behavior and how you can choose new ones that take into account the deeper understanding we have accomplished.
Trauma focused
I believe that trauma profoundly affects our self-perception and our interactions with others. When we acknowledge and understand how these experiences have shaped us, we open the door to healing and personal growth. Gaining insight into the ways trauma influences our thoughts and behaviors allows us to begin making the changes we desire in our lives and relationships. Together, we can explore these influences and work towards creating healthier patterns that foster connection and understanding. Healing is not only possible; it is a journey we can embark on together.
Psychodynamic
We are all shaped by the experiences in our lives. With this modality, we uncover feelings from experiences in the past and explore how they are influencing us in our daily lives today, thus gaining insight into relationships and choices we make today. Our lives are conditioned by our past and insight gives us the chance to make other choices today. The therapeutic relationship allows us to do this together.
CBT
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with all of my clients. This modality empowers clients to identify and understand problematic thought patterns, explore their origins and change the behaviors that hinder a more fulfilling and comfortable life. Through this process, clients can develop healthier perspectives and make positive changes that enhance their overall well-being.
DBT
Having been a part of a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) team at a clinic for five years, I integrate many of the valuable skills and concepts from DBT into my practice. This allows clients to better tolerate difficult emotions and develop healthier coping strategies. By incorporating these skills, clients can enhance their emotional resilience and navigate challenges more effectively. My ideal client is someone who feels comfortable and safe with me—someone who experiences our work as a collaborative, supportive space where they can begin to open up honestly and engage in the therapeutic process. I value a relationship built on trust, respect and emotional safety because I believe meaningful psychotherapy begins when a client feels enough security to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace. In that kind of partnership, we can work together to understand patterns, identify challenges and move toward healing and growth.
